Friday Song - A BG Special

When BG was very little I used to sit her in her bouncy chair while I did the housework. To keep her entertained I would play music and dance around and sing which made her laugh.

One of the albums I played the most was (I can't believe I'm admitting this) Girls Aloud greatest hits. Her favourite song was Jump, I think because its quite up beat and of course mummy looks really silly jumping up and down.

So in honour of BG who is two tomorrow is Girls Aloud and Jump.

Change of plans, I just found this and it is BG's favourite song at the moment...

The Bing Bong song from Peppa Pig!

How Much Fun Can You Have With A Cardboard Box?

Apparently loads if you're BG!

Last week after we had been to our toddler group and BG had spent half her time playing with the toy kitchens I had a flash of inspiration and made our own kitchen at home.

I got one of the many cardboard boxes we have at home, turned it upside down and drew two circles on the top for the hob rings and some little circles on the front for the knobs and added an oven door.
Its not pretty but it does the job

BG loved it and spent ages playing with it, she cooked me dinner and made me a cup of tea.

When she was bored with the cooker, she turned it the right way round and it became her car and then a boat.

It became a toy box at bedtime.

This morning she turned it on its side and it became a cupboard and she has been putting her plates away.

I wonder what it will become next?

Its Been On Of Those Days

Today has been one of those days with BG; she has really been testing the boundaries. It’s been a cold and wet day so we haven’t been out and I’m ready for a bath and bed.

Here are some of things BG has done today that makes me want to pull my hair out:-
  • Screamed for no reason
  • Refuse to have her bum changed
  • Removed her socks, then leggings and refused to wear any bottoms all day
  • Requested lunch, ate a bit then threw it on the floor and requested ice cream
  • Shouted for cake and when I said no shouted for a biscuit
  • Tried to take her nappy off
  • While doing some magic painting she tried to drink the dirty water, when I asked her not to she tipped it all over the book
  • Demanded Pepper Pig to be on all day
  • Screamed every time I left the living room so she had to come with me
  • Ate her yogurt with her hands and got it all over her.
  • Put grapes in her mouth than spat them out so they hit the floor
  • Tipped her dinner out all over her highchair tray and mashed it up with her hands

It’s been a long, never ending day.

Now where’s that chocolate!!

Another Bad Mummy Moment Brought To You By New Mummy

Yesterday as BG tried to escape up the stairs, I grabbed the back of her trousers to stop her. That made her trip and head butt the wall!

She now has a bruise on her head, how terrible do I feel? Bad, bad mummy!

A frozen yogurt tube cheered her up (she thinks it's Ice Cream!)

Sorry BG mummy didn't mean to hurt you.

A First I Could Have Done Without.

I’ve been fortunate to witness most of BG’s firsts. Some of them have been amazing like her first smile, her first word and her first step.  Some of them not so amazing, like her first projectile vomit, the first time she diarrhoea and that first bump on the head.

I’d like to say today I witnessed an amazing first but that would be a lie, you see today we have the first incident of an object up the nose!

What was that lucky object I hear you ask, well it was a raisin. BG has been trying to get a raisin up her nose for some time now but I can normally catch her before she succeeds, today I was too late.

I gave BG a bowl with some raisins and popped into the kitchen, which is practically the same room which means I turned my back for 30 seconds when she started crying. I went to see what was wrong and she pointed to her nose and carried on crying.

I asked her if she had put a raisin up there and she replied “no”. She wouldn’t let me look up her nose and every time I went near her she screamed. I managed to grab up and get a quick look but couldn’t see anything. I then thought maybe she’s got a blocked nose as there are a lot of colds going around. I got some tissue and tried to get her to blow her nose, which at first she refused to do.

She ran to the other side to the room, stopped, snorted and a snot covered raisin flew out and onto the floor. She looked at it and said “yuck” and then laughed. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so I laughed with her.

After a chat with a few mums on twitter about this incident. They told me their stories of their kids getting objects up their noses and I’m really glad now that it came out so easily or we would have had another bad first today, a trip to A&E!

Guess What The Toddler Is Saying

BG has just turned 21 months and her speech is really coming along, she's learning new words everyday. Yesterday it was "more" and "cake" often together, she didn't get cake let alone more (she did get an ice cream at the park).

Today she learnt "squeeze please" and "cuddle" (thank you Show Me, Show Me) they are probably my favourite so far.

BG's favorite word is still "No", she won't say "yes" which can be really frustrating as she uses "no" for both "yes" and "no".

She's started to use three word sentences like "there it is", "I sit down" and "aww my Mum"

BG will say "ta" but she is yet to say "please" and "thank you".

She can now tell me when she has had a poo, she pats her bum and shouts "poo" or "my poo" which is so much fun when you are out!!

We're trying to work on BG's pronunciation, some things she says took a while to work out.

I thought we would have a little competition, the person who can tell me correctly what BG is saying below will win a prize, probably a bar of chocolate (I have seen this on someone's blog in the past can't remember who, sorry)

So correctly guess all 7 of these words/items BG  trying to say or ask for, closing date next Thursday 9th September.

1. Ga Ga

2. Too Too

3. Boo

4. Row Row

5. Baa

6. Car car

7. Pee

Good Luck!

Gallery - Joy

My first idea for this weeks subject Joy for Tara's Gallery was to take pictures of all the things that give me joy, however with BG being poorly that hasn't happened. So I've put together some old pictures which show Joy.

The first picture is the day BG was born, those tired looks on our faces are actually looks of pure joy.

The second picture is 6 weeks later on BG's first Christmas day, we went out for dinner with both our families and I had my first drink since she was born, I was very happy.

These photo's are some of my favourite of BG, her face is showing pure joy in each of these photo's and when I see them they fill my heart with joy.

Sorry for going all soppy on you, I'm now off to see to my grumpy, spotty baby.
